Finale 26 and Noteperformer

Finale 26 came out on 10/10. According to the user manual, there is one fix for NotePerformer:

I installed it as a new install on my Mac (which leaves v25 installed) and it copied over my Noteperformer settings. Haven’t had a chance to test it yet.

Am testing it now, so far, so good. It would take a long time to put it through all the paces, but it definitely works. Arne has sent me a couple of updates since I first installed it, I think they are close to a final release. I'll rework something I did in Finale 25 and post a sample for comparison in the next week or so

Bar 5 please use a crotchet and quaver rest.
You have way too much unison on the violin parts
Bar 51 whole bar rest in Vln. II
No tempo marking or performance style either.

Apart from bars 49-50 and 53-54 and 57-58 where there are some problematic clashes this is very nice. Well done. I think it might be the multiple clashes Fb/Eb, Ab/Bb in rapid succession in those bars and not directly resolved that upset the harmony for me.

None-the-less a good effort.

A question for Kevin from me - Do string players ignore bowing marks or do they appreciate them?

NotePerformer is releasing new versions of their software, up to version 3.2 now. I've been installing them as they've been coming out, so far the only problem I have discovered is that it's hard to stop play. Sometimes the music doesn't fully stop, I'll hear a lingering note continue on. Usually it does stop after a few attempts.

Finale 26.1 was released a couple of days ago and I installed it. In digging around in the documentation, I found there is one fix for NotePerformer - there used to be a delay of 1 second when entering a note in Finale before you heard it. This is now fixed. I also checked one other thing I had noticed was a problem, which I thought might be related, and that is that when pausing music which is playing, it only worked well when you paused with the spacebar. When you tried to pause using the pause or stop button on the player, it sometimes didn't work immediately, and you had to do it several times. This is now fixed as well. Still a problem: the playback lags behind the playbar, a vertical bar which flows along as the score plays. This is a known problem.
