32 MIDI Controllers vs 1 Sequencer!!!
**** Sibelius as scoring editor - Part 2 ****
* 32 different orchestral parts recorded simultaneously
* No quantization required, yet perfect playback
* Unlimited hands and feet tweak knobs and pedals
In the videos posted so far, I extend Sibelius' scoring editor capabilities so that one need not do very much editing in the piano scroll editor after recording. This is revolutionary in the world of MIDI mockup. A basic orchestral template is presented; it is a Presonus Studio One song, with multiple instances of Kontakt loaded as a VST instrument, and used in conjunction with a Sibelius score prepared with extensive playback dictionary entries.
Each orchestral instrument's set of articulations are represented making the score a veritable thesaurus with technique text used to switch banks in the is inserted for each articulation of every orchestral instrument. I show how the instrument's multi. This orchestral template can be used to review and become familiar with an instrument's articulation set, to the check that all playback dictionary entries are correct, to set the volume level of each articulation for each instrument to the dynamic of "piano," and much more.
A demo of these activities are presented for flutes, oboes, and clarinets. (The attenuation of their articulations to the dynamic "piano" is getting close. The bass clarinet might be a little too soft.)
I give a re-cap of what to set when adding articulations to the banks of an instrument bank to accomplish our purpose. And I show that ... unfortunately ... there is no way to automate the building of this template.
In upcoming videos, I hope to show how to use Kontakt automation to avoid the many piano scroll editor changes that the usual technique of MIDI mocup requires.
