Is there any specific duration for this piece with the template, or can we go with the brief of the last competition - anything between 3 and 10 minutes. (Sorry for being cheeky, but it did annoy me).

I've been trying to download the XML file you posted in the other thread, but my Finale seems to be giving error messages whenever I try to open it. Do you have an image file of the motif?

Quick question n the orchestration - why is the horn to be in Eb rather than F?

I appreciate that it's just a click on a button...

It can be what you want. Eb horn is what my player plays.

Ah! I'd mentally put a "French" in front of the "Horn in Eb". For ease, I've reproduced the orchestration in this thread:

2 flutes
1 oboe
2 clarinets
Horn in Eb
2 trumpets
1 Trombone
1 Tuba
Strings

Well there have been a few queries for this one but only one taker. Anyone else interested?

Two questions: 1) Would my piece be disqualified if it doesn't include the phrase in its entirety, as you have written it? Or in other words, if I wanted to rewrite the phrase in a different time signature, another key signature, or include all of its pieces but not written out in full, would these things be allowed as an alternative to using the music you provided, exactly as you provided it? 2) If I decided to write something according the template here but didn't want to compose a second version, could I use my score to participate in both halves of this competition?

The theme should be somewhere for the first comp. do as you see fit in the second one!

Well, I guess since I've modified your theme (contentious bugger that I am) I'm relegating myself to the second thread of the competition, yes? I'm a newbie but count me in.

Can you tell me when and in what form you would like the entries to be delivered? I see the deadline is 31st October but if I have a finished piece earlier is it okay to send it in?
