I for one cannot see how much more they can do for most people using Sibelius these days. Most of those are probably using trusty XP as well and not having too many problems.

Well, since I do not plan on buying a new system, any newer version of Sibelius is automatically out of consideration.

I wonder what effect this may have on Finale, especially in light of their acquisition of Garritan.

You should be okay Richard as long as Score Exchange accept scores in any version of Sibelius.

I suspect it has no affect on them. I suspect Finale is going the exact same route, if they have not already; id est no new development or support for XP at the very least, and probably Vista too. Sonar drop support of XP and Vista some time ago.

If I remember correctly you can install Sonar X3 on Vista (maybe XP, not sure), but none of the updates (X3a ... X3d) will run on Vista due to changes in the Mircosoft tools (software tools) they are using to make the updates.

Mircosoft officially stopped supporting XP 17 days ago.

Well, a friend of mine is running Finale 2014 on XP... so far, so good... but a lot of drivers are causing a strange behaviour... and these XP-drivers are not supported by the developers anymore.

Very soon they will stop 32-bit support. Not windows but the audio-software. One can see this tendency in the requirements - 4Gb RAM does not work on a 32-bit system...

When this marker becomes most common in the requirements one will know when to switch.

A lot of soft I am using can be run on a 32-bit system but when talking to the developers/support they highly recommend a 64-system with at least 16Gb of RAM.

if I were a rich man ?? ? ?? ... I would buy a custom OS incl. audio-tools that fit my needs. ... so, in fact, never...
