Human Playback by "The Music Transcriber"

Hi folks,

does anyone have experience with the Humam Playback by "The Music Transcriber" ?

I just bought this plugin but somehow the feature for randomizing startpoints is missing.

I have send them an email but no answer so far.

what is the version and revision number, Andy.  I just bought this, too for exactly that feature.

oh, never mind. I contacted them, too and they also sent me the update. Amazing that they have an update from 2011 but they still send out the 2010 file that doesn't work. Now, if only I could discern the difference!

Well, the major point is that you can easily avoid the big "Midi-one" which means that when all instruments play a note on beat 1 the score starts pumping.

Also crescendos on long notes are played properly

Andy, have you determined exactly what the plugin does when you have the box marked reset volumes checked?  The default value appears to be 127 but I haven't made out exactly what that resets . . .

Normally in Sibelius the volume of an instrument is controlled by keyvelocity and expression (CC11). When using Midi-volume (CC7) for a crescendo/decrescendo without a reset followed, the midi-volume will stick on the last value.

let me see if I understand this, I write a crescendo and then the next note needs to be reset??  And again, the default is 127 in the plugin.  The next note following the crescendo will be reset to 127???

127 is usually used for CC11 (expression). Normally you will used 100 for Sibelius when using CC7 (midi-volume)

Do not forget that even when set the volume to maximum key-velocity controls the loudness of the instrument. Loudness to avoid using the word volume which is defined as CC7.

Please do some tests using CC11 instead.

interesting and unwelcome turn of events, when I use the humanize plugin a lot of notes that are repeated no longer sound! I've sent an email to them. Have you [Andy] experienced anything similar when using the plugin?

Not so far, Joseph. But I will do some tests to see why this happens. I may be caused by an overlay of notes when some notes with a extended duration are overlap the following one. It is also possible that some notes CC is set to a low value.

But this is only a guess. Would like to know what they answer.

haven't heard back yet but when I double-checked all issues i found I have live playback and live tempo checked in the file.  Once I unchecked them it all seemed to go better.

well, after a few weeks I've decided this plugin is a nice idea but if the job you are seeking to process is large and contains hairpins you want included, the plugin seems to cause MY PC to freeze . . . a lot.

Well Joseph, I do process the hairpins manually. I only use it to alter the key-velocity and the startpoints. I am not using it for the complete score but for some regions. The main reason I got this plugin is to humanize the startpoints of the note to add a little more live-play especially for marimba, piano, harp and vibraphone.
