Hello everybody,
I am always trying to get the most out of Sibelius....
Now I am running two different setups.
No. 1 is a Sib-only setup containing the EastWest-Sounds including Jonathan Lovings soundsets.
To improve the playback I have installed the BCR2000 which comes along with 24 rotating knobs that can be asigned to all sorts of Midi-commands.
This gives me the ability to record all needed controller-data via flexi-time ie. mod-wheel, expression, portamento, legato, etc.
I am using this setup when writing music that supposed to be performed by an artist or an orchestra....
No. 2 is my very special playground.
It contains Cubase 5, Reason 5 and Sibelius 7. I have created a special sound-configuration containing no sounds but 8 virtual midi-cable coming from LoopB30. Each cable provides me with 16 midi-channels and can be connected up to 8 devices (Play, Kontakt, etc.)
This cables are routed to Cubase as a midi-input-device which can be selected for each track. So I got 8 x 16 midi-channels which can be used to playback instruments written in Sibelius. But I also can use effects in Cubase (Filters, steppers, dynamics, reverb) controlled by Sibelius staves.
Everything coming from Sibelius can be merged with midi-data drawn into the tracks of cubase. So it is quite possible to use Cubase Randomizer to detune instruments randomly +/- 1%.
Also Reason which is rewired to Cubase can be controlled by Sibelius.
Everything is controlled by the BCR2000. So I can get the full functionality of Cubase (automation, channel-routines, audio-plugins) to improve what Sibelius hands over.
But the best thing is, Sibelius runs in a high performance now. Every click or selection is in realtime w/o any delay.
Okay, there are two meanings out there about music.
On one side people say music must be performable by human artists.
The other side responses never cut your music by the limitation of musicians and existing natural instruments and their lacks.
I can live with both sides.
A book is not the story but a good way to archive it and a note-sheet is not the music but a way to write it down.
Please don't pick on me in this point. Just let me have some fun with my new toyz before I die...
