Interesting and useful, Ed. But I did not find a way to apply this to mp3 or .wav. There seems to be a way, but I did not find it. This would be it's most important application for most of us.

In the FAQs section of ISRC's website it indicates...
The MP3 format itself does allow some rights management information to be included however it is rarely used. What is used is the ID3 system of tags, which is not part of the international standard, but does enable ISRC to be encoded. It is therefore recommended that an ISRC be encoded into an ID3 tag.

I use a freeware program called MP3tag (www.mp3tag.de) for adding/updating tags on any MP3 files I create. This appears to have a field (tag) for ISRC.

However, I feel that spending $75 out to register for an ISRC code is, for me, premature .

All I can add is that my CD burning software does have an ISRC field for each track on the CD.
